Jim Leonard is the award-winning author of The Diviners and They Dance Real Slow in Jackson. This show came out of his personal experiences regarding the devastating outbreak of AIDS in the early 80s and 90s. Leonard had many friends during the time fighting the deadly virus. Although much of the population at the was shunned by various charitable organization despite their need, Leonard pondered what would have happened if the disease infected said, people. He is quoted stating” What if AIDS only affects Christians? What if the Godly got ill? What does that look like?” From these questions arise the “children’s story for adults” known as Anatomy of Gray.
