An exhibit of ceramic sculpture and wares exploring definition, construct, and allocation of identity. March 26-April 13 Reception: April 13, 5:00p.m.

The Visual & Performing Arts Division of Gulf Coast State College presents Identity, a two-man exhibition featuring ceramic sculpture and wares by Keith Smith and Wesley Harvey. As the tittle suggests the work in the show explores the ideas of definition, construct and allocation of identity. Identity can be cultivated from within, or assigned by external forces, often times it’s a result of the tension between the two. The artists in the show harvest that tension to create work that uniquely defines who they are. These artist make for an odd couple, their work could not be more different in substance or style, yet viewed side by side it heightens the diversity of the human experience and brings into focus the relationships that inevitably emerge as a result of sharing the same space.
