*Pirates of the High Seas Fest*
Come on down to Capt. Anderson’s Marina and join in the all the fun!!
Grand Lagoon Area Thomas Drive October 9th, 2016: grandlagoon.org
One thing we know is certain; pirates prowled the coastal waters around Panama City during the 18th and 19th centuries. The best known of these adventurers was William Augustus Bowles, who is remembered in nearby Fort Walton Beach as the “Pirate Billy Bowlegs.”
The Grand Lagoon Coalition now invites you to take a trip back in history on October 9th with a full day of FREE family Pirate fun and fireworks!
Conjure up images of locals and tourists dressed in their best Pirate Garb participating in the Treasure Hunt from Mon-Sat, and enjoying Grand Lagoon restaurant specials all week long. On Sunday, the Pirates of the High Seas Festival will be in full swing with a boat show, arts and crafts vendors, grub and grog (food & drink for you landlubbers), , bounce house, mock pirate battle practices, family and puppy pirate parade, free Lil’ Pirate fishing clinic and dockside fishing, live music on stage, costume contests at participating locations, a free fishing tournament, and face painting all ending with a spectacular Pirate Invasion, boat flotilla and FIREWORKS Show!
This is THE Fall event of the Panama City Beach and Grand Lagoon area! Make sure you are there when the crowd makes the Pirates “Surrender the Booty” and hoist the Treasure Chest on stage Oct 9th, 3:00pm to select one lucky winner. After which, we will drive out the scurvy Pirates who tried to steal the Treasure onto the boat flotilla ending with a full celebration of our victory and a grand show of fireworks! Festivities are planned to entertain all ages and give way to the inner Pirate in us all! More details including a copy of the Treasure map can be found online at www.grandlagoon.org as well as www.visitpanamacitybeach.com/piratesofthehighseas/
