Program "LIFE IN ECONFINA WITH THE GAINERS" Monday Feb 26th - 7 PM Bay County Library 898 W 11th St
This program will share the history of the beautiful and unique Econfina Springs area located in Bay County, Florida. The presenters are members of pioneer families to the area. The program is free to the public.
The Historical Society of Bay County (HSBC) is excited to offer an excellent program presented by Ms. Faye Gainer and Mr. Harold Dybdal on the harmonious life between the Black and White Gainer families that settled the beautiful Econfina Watershed area.
This unique historical area with 8 pioneer families has 7 major springs, 6 Native American/pioneer roads, 7 historical cemeteries, 6 communities, the Adams Mill Archaeological site, the Natural, Gainer and Walsingham Bridges and a Florida National Scenic Trail. Ms. Gainer and Mr. Dybdal will share the history of community institutions such as the post office, school, church and grocery store and the turpentine business in that area. In addition, attendees will be treated to selected gospel songs performed by the Mt. Pleasant Church and a Gainer Family Choral Group. This program is free to HSBC members and to the public.
