The Chuck Schwartz (all-star jazz) Quartet
The Chuck Schwartz Quartet with Robert Orr, Steve Gilmore, and Charles Pagano will present a memorable tribute to the classic jazz of the 1950’s and 1960’s at The Place on Tuesday, June 12 at 6:30 p.m.
Each of the veteran musicians in this group are virtuoso players on their respective instruments.
Robert Orr, highly regarded jazz guitarist and former director of jazz studies at Auburn University, has performed frequently in the Panhandle region and is a regular at the Red Bar in Grayton Beach.
Bassist Steve Gilmore, a three-time Grammy award winner is regarded as one of the world’s best jazz bassists. He was Tony Bennett’s bassist for 5 years and with Phil Woods for an extended period.
Charles Pagano is an experienced West Coast percussionist who became a first-call jazz drummer soon after his arrival in this area. His impeccable timing and complex rhythm patterns are creative and innovative beyond belief.
Chuck Schwartz, from Mobile, is also an Alumnus of the Red Bar Band. He has honed his natural skill by appearing at numerous venues all across the Florida Panhandle and beyond for more than 20 years.
The music will feature many of the tunes identified with Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Stan Getz, Sonny Rollins, Wayne Shorter, Jim Hall, Joe Pass, Barney Kessel, and others.
