This three day symposium will consist of interactive workshops, lectures, panel topic discussions, demonstrations, a body art competition, and the exhibition Fluidity of Place.
Gulf Coast State College will host its Third Annual Ceramics Symposium. The topic this year is “Crafting Communities”. The symposium will be held in Panama City, Florida, from April 6-9 at Amelia Tapper Center in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts. The artists/presenters include Forrest Sincoff Gard, Nicole Hays, Erica Passage, Tyler Nicholson, Tammy Marinuzzi, Cheyenne Chapman Rudolph, and Mandy Yourick. This is a great opportunity for attendees to learn from a variety of professional artists.
Focusing on the intersection of community building and artistic practice, the artists will share the ways in which they use art as a means to engage communities. Each artist will present their artwork along with a demonstration or workshop showcasing their creative method or latest project. Some topics include adventuring with handmade pottery, walking the distance to Pondicherry, India, and the need for play in adulthood.
